Hand cut paper 65cm x 45cm
Absence in a crowded space, 2015. This painting started from a purely abstract or gestural origin, building on a collaged base of advertising paper. The work is not pre-determined by imagery but is defined by on-going decision making until I feel the project is resolved to create an ambiguous landscapes. This piece is the most abstract of the series, hinting at horizontal and vertical frameworks which have an undefined scale and perspective. For me this work explore feelings of alienation, anonymity and absence in crowded virtual or physical spaces.
